For Tif, it started with her own birth
At 18, pregnant with her first baby, Tif walked around the hospital where she was due to give birth and knew:
This isn't how I want to do it.
So she opened the Yellow Pages and discovered midwifery care.
Her first experience of birth became one of choice, support and community.
For Karli, it started with a fascination
Growing up in the '90s, Karli was obsessed with A Baby Story and Maternity Ward shows on TLC.
Her career took her into journalism, but birth kept pulling her back.
She started exploring midwifery, before realising she'd never actually been at a birth.
So she signed up for a weekend doula training.
