The Doula Hive

Birth is better together

The Doula Hive is where families and doulas find each other — through video, not directories. Watch a doula's intro, feel the connection, and reach out to the one who feels right.

Our mission

We believe every family deserves the right doula — and every doula deserves to be seen for who they really are.

The Doula Hive is built on video because the best match isn't made from a headshot and a paragraph. It's made when you see someone's warmth, hear their voice, and know this is the person you want in the room.

We're building a space where doulas are visible, families are supported, and the connection starts before the first message.

Why this matters

The support gap is real

Families are going through the biggest moment of their lives with less support than ever. The UK is short 2,500 midwives with no recovery in sight. England's C-section rate has nearly doubled in a decade — from 26% to 45%, the highest ever recorded.

The evidence for doulas is clear

Doulas reduce the risk of cesarean by 39% and can cut traumatic birth experiences by 35%. Yet fewer than 1 in 100 UK births include a doula.

The problem isn't the evidence — it's visibility. Families don't know doulas exist, can't find the right one, and have no way to connect that feels personal. That's what The Doula Hive is here to change.

Built by doulas

Built by doulas, for doulas. 25+ years combined experience. Two women who've worked every side of this profession — and built The Doula Hive because the infrastructure their community needs didn't exist.

Tif Bryant, Co-founder of The Doula Hive

Tif co-founded ATX Doulas in 2013 and scaled it into one of the largest practices in Texas, hiring nearly 100 doulas and supporting thousands of families. She spent a decade inside the operating system of birth work — learning exactly where the model breaks at scale. She knows what it takes to build teams, hold systems, and show up for families through every kind of birth. With an MSc in Entrepreneurship, she's building the technology the industry needs.

Karli Hetherington, Co-founder of The Doula Hive

Karli spent 15 years working in digital strategy while leading doula teams and supporting families in birth rooms on evenings and weekends. She has managed practitioners across diverse contexts, built community infrastructure from the ground up, and developed initiatives supporting incarcerated mothers through pregnancy and birth. She brings operational clarity, community-building expertise, and deep empathy.

Two doulas, one mission

Tif and Karli met in doula training in 2011 — paired together as strangers. Over the next decade they worked side-by-side in the same doula ecosystem: shared clients, backup calls, and the real operational pressure of running birth teams at scale.

In 2022, Karli asked Tif to support her during the birth of her third baby. That trust — built over a decade of doing the work together — is what The Doula Hive is built on.

The Doula Hive is the platform they wished existed — built by partners who have lived every side of this work.

For investors

We're building the infrastructure that makes doula care visible and scalable. If that resonates, we'd love to hear from you.
